Bonjour Jolie December 2013

Happy New Year!  With all the holiday festivities, I'm a little late posting my December Bonjour Jolie box (aka period box).  It was a box very appropriate for the holiday season.  I only wish it had arrived a little earlier in the month!

The Gift
Silver Snowflake and Jingle Bells Bracelet (value: $16)
This bracelet is very cute, but unfortunately not my style.  Actually I think it would be a super cute gift for a little girl.  I'm going to hold on to it until next year and figure out who this would be a sweet little gift for.

The Edibles (value: $3?)
Ghiradelli Chocolates
StreenLand Chocolate Snowflake Coins
Land O Lakes Hot Chocolates
It seems like the hot chocolate mixes I got are different from those listed on the description card, but that's ok.  I don't discriminate when it comes to anything in the edible category.

The Pampering
Peppermint Lip Balm ($4)
Vanilla Sugar Scrub Lip Treatment ($4)
Crocket Face Scrubby by Sam's Crochet ($0.50)
Gingerbread Scented candles ($1)
The lip products and candles smell great!  I'm a person who can never have too many lip balms and the scrub is nice to have too, especially with all this dry winter air.  The face scrubby will probably work great with my hot cloth cleanser so this will be great when I need a little extra exfoliation.

The Protection (~$12)
My combination of 30 feminine hygiene items.  Advil too!

Overall this was another great box from Bonjour Jolie and loved the festive theme.  As I've stated before, I think of this box as more as a delivery service that includes some extra treats.  For the $16 price tag, it was a great value of approximately $40.

I know there are other TOM boxes out there.  Is there another company I should try out for one month?

Bonjour Jolie November 2013

It's time for November's Bonjour Jolie delivery!  As usual, it was right on schedule.  :-)

Bonjour Jolie is a time of the month box that sends you monthly supplies in the brand of your choosing along with special treats for $16/month (plus s/h).   This subscription doubles as a wonderful delivery service of necessary items and also a way to put a smile on my face as I go through all the other goodies inside.  :-)   The November theme is "A Time for Giving Thanks" and like previous boxes, the contents did not disappoint.

The Protection (retail ~$12)
To start with the most important items first, here are the 30 feminine care items in the quantities requested along with some Advil.

The Gift
Copper Stone Necklace (retail ~$12)
This necklace has a brass charm that says "Live-Laugh-Love", a Bronze Key ("to remember you are the key to finding your own happiness") and a natural Sodalite stone.  This isn't really my style, but I feel like it will be a very sweet good luck charm to pass on to someone special.  :-)

The Edibles
Jumbo Sea Salt Caramels (retail ~ $2?)
These caramels are made with only sea salt, butter, and sugar by Grandma Cindy.  They are a handmade Etsy item and proceeds from the caramel sales support the medical bills of the creators grandson.  It's a great cause and the caramels are definitely delicious.  I highly suggest these to anyone who is a caramel fan.

Mott's Flavored Apple Cider (retail ~ $2.40)
I'm a huge fan of apple cider.  Right now I've been enjoying buying fresh apple cider to enjoy, but when the season is over these will definitely come in handy.

The Pampering
Organic Cider Spice Soap by SomervilleSoapWorks (sample - $1)
This handmade soap has a very gentle smell and softly exfoliates.  I really liked how the scent wasn't too overpowering.

Body Butter by The Concord Soap Company (sample $1)
I got two samples of this body butter - Almond and Green Cactus.  The sample packet sizes make them great to throw into a purse.  So far I've only tried the Almond one and it smells great!

Sugar Scrub Soap Cubes by All Earthly Things (sample $1)
These little sugar cubes of body scrub smell great, but I wish the consistency was a little looser.  They were too firm to just break apart in the shower.

Calming Bath Oil by BlissFull Apothecary (sample $2)
This bath oil smells amazing - maybe it will motivate me to actually take the time to relax and take a bath.  :-)

Overall another great box from Bonjour Jolie with a retail value of ~ $33.  I love getting surprise bonus treats with items I would otherwise have to go purchase anyway.

What did other people think of the November Bonjour Jolie box?

Bonjour Jolie October 2013

Like other things that arrive on a monthly basis, my October Bonjour Jolie box was delivered right on schedule.

Bonjour Jolie is a time of the month box that sends you monthly supplies in the brand of your choosing along with special treats for $16/month (plus s/h).  The theme this month was "Falling for You!"  Fall flavors/scents are a favorite of mine so I was definitely excited to see what the box included.

The Gift
Complete Nail Spa Package (Total Value: $16)
This set includes a Sally Hansen Color Quick Fast Dry Nail Color Pen, Nail Art pen, Triple sided nail file, birchwood cuticle stick, argon oil for cuticles, and 2 La Fresh Nail Polish remover pads.  I've gotten the nail polish remover pads in a Birchbox a while back and they are great for travel.  This whole set would actually be great for travel.

The Edibles
Chocolate Covered Pumpkin Pie ($1)
Yum!  This will be delicious!

Dessert Teas by Davidsons Tea Company (5 bags - $1.85)
These are dessert teas and are all caffeine free.  I had the Vanilla-coconut one earlier today and it was definitely tasty.

The Pampering
Tipsy Pumpkin Soap by StarFire Creations ($1)
This looks like a piece of pumpkin fudge and smells great.

Helping Hands Apricot and Ginseng Hand Scrub ($2)
I tried this today and was not a fan.  The texture was a little runny and I didn't care for the scent.

Solid Lotion bar by Faith Soaps and Love ($1.50)
I love solid lotion/massage bars!  This one doesn't smell too sweet which is great.

Music Download Card from Rorie Kelly
I had some issues downloading, so I"ll try to play around with it more when I have a chance.

The Protection
A combo of the 30 feminine hygiene products I selected (~$12)

The overall value of this month's box is ~$35.  I especially love the nail set and can't wait to enjoy all the edibles.

There are a couple time of the month boxes out there.  What other boxes have people tried and how do they compare to Bonjour Jolie?

Bonjour Jolie September 2013

The next boxed adventure to arrive is Bonjour Jolie - aka period box ;-).  As usual it was nice to have some nice surprises to go along with my monthly supplies.

Bonjour Jolie is a time of the month box that sends you monthly supplies in the brand of your choosing along with special treats for $16/month (plus s/h).  The theme this month was "Go Vegan" and all of the included items fit for a vegan lifestyle.  While I myself am not vegan, I do already find it interesting to see what types of different products are out there.

The Gift:
Personalized Silver Necklace (retail: $16)  I actually really like this!  It's very cute and casual and I love how it has the letter K just for me :-)

The Edibles:
Gourmellow - By Desidero Chocolates (retail: $3)  This is a vegan marshmallow that truly didn't taste any different from the real thing.  It was a perfect treat to brighten my afternoon.

SerendipiTea Tea Company (retail $3.50)  This is loose tea with a reusable cotton filter bag.  Interesting idea, but it seems like a lot of work to always be cleaning a filter bag.  I understand the point is not to have extra paper tea bags as waste, but I think I'd rather brew my loose tea in my teapot.  I'm willing to give a try though.

The Pampering:
PuurBody Full Size Vegan Lip Balm (retail $3.50)  I love lip balms.  Honestly I think is the only beauty product I use every day no matter what - several times a day in fact.  This lip balm smells amazing and was also had a great texture.

Just Pure Minerals Bronzer and Brush (retail $1.50)  Cute handy size, but loose powder in small containers like this are often challenging for me.

Sunny Day Botanicals Organic Lotion (retail $2.00)  Always handy to have a small travel size of lotion.

U Just Relax Bath Tea (retail $2.00). Apparently this can be reused for 2-4 baths and dried in between. I can't remember the last time I took a bath but perhaps this will inspire one.

Protection:
A mix of feminine hygiene items I chose along with 2 travel packs of Advil and 2 feminine wipes (retail ~ $12).

This box had amazing value (~$41)!  I love how Bonjour Jolie makes stocking up on necessary items a little more enjoyable each month. :-)

Bonjour Jolie August 2013

My final box for August was Bonjour Jolie (aka period box).  It's a good box this month but even more impressive is their level of customer service.  I sent them an email asking for some changes in my protection distribution and to have it shipped to me a little earlier in the month for September.  Within 30 minutes I had a response confirming all the changes I requested.  Nice.

Bonjour Jolie delivers items to make that time of the month a little more pleasant in addition to a personalized breakdown of 30 feminine hygiene items for $16 (plus s/h).  They carry all the major brands, so you can get exactly what you are used to.  The August box is "Honoring the Feminine" by featuring items from all women owned businesses.

First up we have my package of protection.

The rest of the box was divided into the following categories: the gift, the edibles, the pampering.

The gift - "Silver and Stone Bracelet" (retail $14.00)
This bracelet is handmade and mported from Peru.  It's made of alpaca silver and local precious stones. I love the light peach color of the stones and detailing of the metal work.  This is definitely a fun bracelet for daily, casual wear.

The Edibles -

"Leccare Lollipops" (retail 2 pops - $3.00)
The two flavors in my box were Salted Watermelon and Peach Cobbler.  The cinnamon in the Peach Cobbler pop really gave it a little kick.  I love hard candies with unique flavors.

"Just Add Honey Tea" (5 bags - $3.50)
I also love fun flavored teas.  Teas are a way to trick me into drinking more water.

The Pampering -

"Organic Herbal Hand Scrub" (retail $2.00)
A good hand scrub is always handy.  Especially when followed by -

"Happy Hands Lotion" (retail $1)
Have to keep my hands nice and soft.  Especially after a scrub.

"Scardey cat Mineral Eye Shadow" (retail $1.50)
This color looks a little on the dark side for me, but it will be fun to try for a night out.

"Herbal Bath Salts" (retail $1)
I really should take more baths.  Maybe this will motivate one soon.

"Sensibles Sanitary Bags" (retail $1)
I get that these are biodegradable disposable bags, but I don't really see a use for these.

"Advil"
These single dose packs are great to have in my purse or clutch.

Overall a good box and great customer service the total value of the box was ~$28 including the price of the protection.  Although I've canceled some boxes lately, Bonjour Jolie is definitely one I will continue with.

Bonjour Jolie July 2013

Time for another box to make a first time appearance!

In case you are wondering, the answer is yes.  Yes - there is a subscription box for almost everything.  In fact there are usually several subscription boxes for anything you could possibly want.

"Bonjour Jolie" is one of several boxes that is geared to making that time of the month (T.O.M.) a little more pleasant.  In fact, their official slogan is "pamper your period."  There are several similar boxes out there, but I've been happy with the value and customer service of this particular one.

The T.O.M. boxes are more a delivery service with some added bonuses.  Bonjour Jolie has all the brands of pads/liners/tampons and you personalize a combo of 30 in the levels of protection needed.  Without giving too much information, I like this because it allows me to truly create a "variety pack" of what I need.

In addition to a combo of 30 pads/liners/tampons of your usual brand, Bonjour Jolie sends you delicious treats, beauty products, teas, and Advil (if requested) for $16 a month plus s/h.  The delivery of the box can also be timed to your cycle.

Unfortunately my box was missing it's little info card this month, but I was able to find what each item is online.

This month the teas are Bigelow which is pretty standard.  I like teas because its a way to trick me into drinking more water.

Here's my bag of protection.  I'll keep the details to myself.  :-)

Now for a cute little box of "Artisan Caramels."  These are quite delicious - soft and not too sweet.

One of the little bags had a menagerie of goodies.  A knit "face scrubby" (I thought it was a coaster before searching online), lotion samples, silky body powder by Bonny Bubbles, a bath bomb by Spa Girl Soaps, and some Advil.

The final item in the box is this super cute sarong!  I don't usually wear orange, but this will look great with my blue and green swimsuits.

I really enjoy the practical aspect of this box and also enjoy the monthly treats.  Bonjour Jolie is definitely a box I would recommend to anyone interested to giving a TOM box a try.
