September 2013 Naturebox

I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I decided to cancel my Naturebox subscription.  This September box will be my last one.  While D and I do like the snacks, it just seemed like it was time to let this box go and possibly subscribe to something more unique that catches my eye.

That being said, I was super excited for all the snacks in this month's box.  Theme is "fall treats" but these are definitely snacks I would enjoy year round.

The first snack is "Chia Seed Crackers."  This is the snack I was least excited about.  I've only recently discovered chia seeds as part of my diet and not something that you try to grow on a small terra cotta animal.  The info card suggested trying these with some hummus and that sounds promising.

Next is some "Salted Caramel Pretzel Pops."  D will tell you I got very excited when I took this out of the box.  Salted?  Good.  Caramel?  Great!  Pretzel?  Yes!  Pops?!?!?!?   Mind Blown!!!!!!  These are delicious.  I wish I knew where I could buy these on a regular basis.

The next pack was another exciting one - "Smokey BBQ Peas."  I love BBQ and peas are my favorite vegetable.  These are also quite good - not to salty and with good flavor and crunch.

Our fourth snack is "Sea Salt and Cracked Pepper Sunflower Seeds."  These are interesting.  They are in little granola like clusters and the pepper flavor comes out after a few seconds.  I'm still debating if I like them or not.  It will probably take eating the whole pack to decide.

Last but not least is the "Cranberry Macaroon Granola."  Wow.  This might be the best granola I've ever had.  It's sweet but not too sweet.  I enjoyed some with some chocolate almond milk this morning. Delicious!

I will give Naturebox credit for going out on a high note.  These snacks will definitely be enjoyed and I'm happy I gave it a try.  Who knows - maybe I'll end up resubscribing one day?   Does anyone else subscribe to Naturebox?  What was your favorite snack this month?

August 2013 Naturebox

Time for another round of tasty snacks from Naturebox.  This month's theme is "back to school."

A quick recap of what Naturebox is:

Naturebox is a monthly box that sends you 5 healthy, nutritionist approved snacks for $19.95 monthly.  Each snack has 4-5 servings.  While it's impossible to price out the value of each snack, I feel like the price is a great deal when you compare similar items at a grocery store like Wholefoods.

Now on to the snacks!

First we have the "Santa Fe Corn Stix."  These are tomato, green pepper, and onion flavored corn crisps (sort of like Fritos).  I haven't tried them yet, but we've gotten guacamole flavored corn crisps in the past and they were one of our favorite items.

Next we have some "Sweet Blueberry Almonds."  At first the concept seemed strange but after tasting them I can confirm they are delicious.  The blueberry flavor isn't too sweet or overpowering, but is a very complimentary seasoning with the almonds.  These will probably go fast around here.

Our third snack are some "Teriyaki Twists."  These are crunchy rice crackers flavored with soy and paprika.  Another very tasty, crunchy snack.  This definitely will satisfy any chip/pretzel cravings that come up.

The next snack pack contains "Cocoa Waffle Wafers."  This is another snack I haven't tried yet, but we had the lemon version previously and I was a fan.  They nicely complimented a cup of tea and also went great with ice cream.

Last but not least we have the "Cherry Berry Bonanza."  This snack includes dried cranberries, cherries, and blueberries.  I LOVE dried cherries and cranberries.  This version is amazingly delicious but not overly sweet like dried fruit sometimes is.

It looks like we have another batch of great treats.  If anyone is interested in giving Naturebox a try, feel free to contact me for more info.

July Naturebox

Happy 4th of July to all!

Deciding to start a blog during time away was maybe a little ambitious.  Especially since there were several June boxes waiting for me when we got back.  So with that said, I'm going to give this a fresh start by starting with the month of July.

The first box to arrive this month was the July Naturebox (naturebox.com) with a "beach time" theme. It's also a box my husband enjoys!  They have an option now to choose your 5 snacks for the month or stick with the surprise.  I haven't tried choosing yet, but seems like a great way to get to enjoy favorites more than once.

The first snack is a pouch of "Whole Wheat Blueberry Figgy Bars."   These are quite tasty and similar to a raspberry variety I sampled in a previous box.  They remind me of a denser version of a nutragrain bar.  This pouch had 5 bars.

Next we have some dried pears.  A little on the chewy side, but I like that they haven't been additionally sweetened.

The country ranch sunflower kernels were probably my least favorite snack.  But I also don't like ranch flavored things.

Yea dessert!  These lemon tea biscuits were very light and I actually enjoyed them with tea.  They were a little on the dry side, but definitely complimented my chamomile tea nicely.

My final snack was a bag of garden tomato almonds. I liked these but I don't know if I could taste the tomato on them.  Can't go wrong with almonds though.

Overall a tasty box.  I don't think I'll go out of my way to order any of these as repeats?
